The 2018 Prevent Cancer Health Fair and 5k Walk/Run will take place on Sunday, September 16, 2018, beginning at the home of the Washington Nationals baseball team. The event is an unofficial 5k route that will take participants around the beautiful Capitol Riverfront neighborhood with the start and finish inside Nationals Park. This is not a timed race and the event is open to family and friends of all ages. Kids 12 and under are FREE. We also encourage you to bring your dog, but all four-legged friends must be on leashes at all times during the event.

Bring the kids out to the ballpark for a day of fun! This year, all Kids 12 and under are FREEAfter you walk (or run!) the route through the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood and cross the finish line at Nationals Park, bring the family inside the stadium for fun and games at our health fair. We will bring the arts and crafts, face painters, games and activities; you just bring your little ones!
Bring your furry friend
– we care about your pet’s health, too! All dogs are welcome to attend our health fair and 5k walk/run. RULES for dog owners:
  • All dogs must be up-to-date on their rabies and distemper vaccines.
  • All dogs must be walked on leashes no more than 4 feet long.
  • All dogs must be on leashes at ALL times (no tethering the animal to your body while walking/running).
  • All owners must clean up after their dogs and dispose of their waste in a trash can.
  • All residents of D.C. must have their dogs registered with the district and have their license IDs on the dogs’ collars.
  • If you plan to bring your dog, you MUST indicate this in our online registration form when signing up for the event.

FREE parking is available at Nationals Park in Garage B (corner of South Capitol Street and N Street SE) and Garage C (corner of First Street and N Street SE). You must arrive before 8:45 a.m. for access. Parking is available until 12:00 p.m. Any participants with cars in the garage after 12:00 p.m. will have to use the intercom system for assistance from security to exit. 
Get an early start to being active before the 5k and take Capital Bikeshare to our event! There are four drop-off stations within a few minutes to the park. Click here for more information.

The nearest metro station is the Navy Yard-Ballpark station on the green line. Exit following the signs toward Nationals Park and take a right once on street level. Walk down Half Street to the Center Field Gates. PLEASE NOTE: Metro’s new operating hours for Sundays begin at 8:00 a.m.
